第二十三首十四行詩：不完美之懼

十四行詩，Sonnet，也翻譯成商籟體，義大利文學中稱之為愛情的最佳語言，莎士比亞善用此利器，寫了154首十四行詩，有不少劇本中也直接或間接運用此特殊風格，特別是表達愛情的主題。

莎士比亞的十四行詩中，我特別喜歡第二十三首，此詩表面上是一首道地的情詩，其實詩人以此詩抒發一生之職志：

Sonnet XXIII

As an unperfect actor on the stage,

Who with his fear is put beside his part,

Or some fierce thing replete with too much rage,

Whose strength's abundance weakens his own heart;

So I, for fear of trust, forget to say

The perfect ceremony of love's rite,

And in mine own love's strength seem to decay,

O'ercharged with burthen of mine own love's might.

O! let my looks be then the eloquence

And dumb presagers of my speaking breast,

Who plead for love, and look for recompense,

More than that tongue that more hath more express'd.

   O! learn to read what silent love hath writ:

   To hear with eyes belongs to love's fine wit.

這首詩的結構完美地架在起(第一闕，1-4行)、承(第二闕，5-8行)、轉(第三闕，9-12行)、合(結語對句)。


詩人開場是以第三人稱出現，他是一位怯場、緊張、焦慮的演員，雖滿腔熱情卻因過於緊張忘了台詞。他不完美，但卻滿腔熱情，詩人比喻此生澀之演員如some fierce thing，一隻失控的野獸？為什麼?因為怒火中燒? rage照字面翻譯是生氣、憤怒，其實是指燃燒心中之火焰，放在愛情的網絡閱讀，這位初登情場新手，應該是熱情洋溢，難以自拔；若這是舞台，此情境描寫超乎此演員足以控制之力道或能力。不過，此詩不單單描述愛情與舞台，讀到最後才了然，詩人終究在意的是名山之業。不完美，所以擔憂，因為期待的是完美
